When we were children, the worlds our toys belonged to were borderless. We pushed He-Man around on Hot Wheels, Barbie battled with Skeletor, and Ken answered calls with the Fisher Price phone. Our toys were all part of one universe, and we were their storytellers.

Bloodline [Miracle on Eternia], is an altar to the idea that playing with toys allows us to invent our own narratives and, in effect, create new life. Barbie and He-Man are together on his home planet with their child, and twelve curious coarse rabbits have come to inspect and protect this sacred moment. This is a family portrait, one that unites characters whose storylines don’t intersect until our inner child decides that they do.

Mattel holds an iconic place in our culture not simply because of the characters they have given us, but because playing with toys has always allowed us to bring something new into the world.
